Today I woke up feeling fabulous. A comfy bed sure does stimulate a successful slumber. Since the option was available, I helped myself to a delightful and lengthy shower. Breakfast was included in my room purchase, so I made my way to the dining area. The spread was not extensive, but the contents were considerably tasty. My plate included several hard-boiled eggs, toast with jelly and butter, grapes, yogurt, and a lot of coffee. I had to get my money's worth. The charming hotel owner offered me many of the leftover items. Only having limited space in my pantry, I obtained four hardboiled eggs. After thanking him for his generosity, I returned to my room. I relaxed for a bit and packed my gear up. It was time to hit the road. Cya later Condon.
The dry deserted desert welcomed me back. Again, the shade was suppressed during this summertime shine. After nine miles of pedaling, I came upon a luscious little park. It was the darndest thing because there was green grass and fertile trees. Probably due to the sprinklers that were spraying all over the oasis. I found a shaded picnic bench and fueled my body. All I needed was a peach, a handful of peanuts, and a hard-boiled egg. After relaxing for a bit, the road was ready for me.
All throughout this trip, I have been greeted with kindness and generosity. While pulled over just outside the tiny town of Mayville, I was reminded that this world is filled with idiots and assholes. This car flew by, honking its horn, and the passengers flashed their middle fingers at me. An uncalled for act, but I did not take it personally. Most of today's ride had been uphill or flat. Now it was time for my reward. A steep two-mile decline was my prize, and it was perfect. Almost simultaneously, the scenery changed. Leafy trees were present, and the desert seemed to have diminished.
It was the final stretch, and I sprinted into Fossil. My resting place tonight is a lovely bed and breakfast named Wyatt House Bed and Breakfast. The owners showed me around, and we were quite cordial with each other. After a quick shower, I walked two blocks to the town grocery store. I collected dinner supplies and returned to my new headquarters. The remainder of the evening was spent out on the porch catching up on assignments and blog posts. My meal included cherry tomatoes, guacamole, peanuts, and blueberries. A lovely evening indeed. The route today is boring but here it is.
