MERCI MES AMIS!
My sleep was seriously satisfactory. I slurped up a can of assorted fruits for my breakfast and headed towards the river trail. Not to my surprise, my friend's arrival time had been delayed by quite a bit. The time to explore was now, while the sun was bearable. I jogged along the river trail until the next campground. There was a water spout here, and I reloaded my hydration bars. It was time to trek through The Desert Voices Trail. This trail was a two-mile loop full of stunning scenery and informative signage. The best part is that I did not see a single human throughout my journey. It was just me and the lovely landscape. Another plus was that there were loads of lizards flying across the path. The sun was starting to sizzle, so I made my way back to camp.
It was lunchtime, so I consumed a tin of sardines and a can of black olives. My next move was to relax in the river. While I lounged in the shallows, baby fish and crawdads greeted me. After a decent soak, I returned to camp and worked on things. The boys were running later than secondly stated. Still not surprising stuff to me. To kill time, I read my book by Bill Bryson. Finally, my friends arrived with plenty of supplies.
My favorite ration that they delivered was undoubtedly the ice-cold beer. We sat by the river and sipped on our brews. After catching up a bit, we decided to drive to the brewery in Vernal. The second time around was just as satisfying. We split some fries and brussel sprouts for an appetizer. My meal was the shrimp and grits, and I washed it down with their wheat ale. It was another satisfactory affair. Ironically, we stopped at Davis Drug Store for a few more supplies.
When we got back to the campsite, we had to figure out how to put up Will's mega tent. It took some brainpower, but we figured it out. The next item on our agenda was to hike along the river to the highest point. We sat and bathed in the beauty until darkness dawned upon us. There was just enough light to get back to camp successfully. The evening ended elegantly as we sat fireside. Nothing soothes the soul like best buds and a fierce fire. My tent was a furnace, but sleep successfully snuck up on me.
