OÙ SONT LES OURS?
Wow, what an upgrade, this tent was a mansion compared to mine. We organized the campsite to our liking and squeezed all the scented stuff into the bear box. This is grizzly country, so they say. Anything with an authoritative aroma must be stored in this big brown box. The ranger informed us of a bear attack two days ago, and we did not want to take any chances. After the site was successfully situated, we drove into town.
It was still early, and I had a burning desire for an espresso. We found a cafe far from the main square. The espresso looked promising because it had a thick layer of crema. This is the first passing crema that I have seen all trip. Unfortunately, the flavor was average, and it was a tad bitter. The chocolate croissant was crazy delicious though. Our next destination was the National Museum of Wildlife Art. This beautiful building sits atop a hill along Highway 26 (also known as Highway 191 and Highway 89 for some odd reason). The architecture of this facility is absolutely amazing. The exterior and interior flaunted rough stone and reclaimed timber. This marvel mimics a massive medieval mansion.
We made our way through this magnificent museum. There were five thousand artworks all related to the wilderness. My knowledge was greatly expanded during this venture. My favorite fun fact is that bison are native to North America and Europe, whereas the buffalo origins come from South Asia and Africa. People often use these titles interchangeably, but there is a distinct difference between these beautiful beasts. It seems that every day I am adding little bits of knowledge to my database. Perhaps some of these facts should be known already but better late than never.
After viewing all the art, we secured a table outside at the museum restaurant. The scenery was seriously spectacular. We shared a cheese plate, and I drank an IPA. Next, we drove down to Jenny Lake, located in Teton National Park. This lake touches the Tetons and contains crystal-clear water. We hiked around the lake and soaked up the scenery. My biggest grievance was that this place was packed with tourists. It is apparent that I am categorized as a tourist in this foreign land. However, I do not succumb to tourist tendencies. After exploring the lake for a bit, we returned to the camp. We lazed around the location and demolished some dinner. It was a prompt pass out on this perfect evening.
