UNE JOURNÉE RECORDE!
During this trip, I have climbed up some mega mountains. Today, I most definitely met my match with the infamous Loveland Pass. This climb was roughly sixteen miles of straight incline with three thousand feet of elevation gain. Admittedly, I stopped halfway through the ride at the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area. During this stop, I reenergized with a large lunch. My meal included a sizable house salad, a basket of fries, three cups of coffee, and an IPA. It was time to conquer this crazy climb. As I approached the peak, many onlookers cheered me on. A wide whitened grin spread across my face as I pulled off to admire the view from twelve thousand feet. There was snow on the ground in the middle of summer.
After reveling in this magical moment, it was time to descend. I could not stop smiling as a curved down this massive mountain. It was unquestionably the most magnificent plunge that I had experienced. My one complaint is that it ended much too quickly. This was just the start of my day. There were still about sixty miles left to complete. I jumped off Highway 6 and rode this trail that ran along Interstate 70. The trail eventually turned into side roads that continued along the interstate. A few towns later, I started on Highway 40. After climbing a cumbersome hill, I had an amazing overlook of I-70, and it was packed! Everyone was getting out of Denver to partake in the summer mountain festivities. It was bumper-to-bumper traffic, and I was glad that my transport was this bagged-up bike.
After a few miles on 40, I started south on Highway 74. All of the sudden, I was in the mountains again. Luckily, the downhill did not stop, and I zoomed down to the start of the suburbs. After traveling through this great golden grassland of a park, I arrived in Littleton. It did not take long to navigate to the Suta's, which was my sanctuary for the next couple of days. Upon arrival, I was welcomed with cold beer and pizza. After conversing for a while, I needed a shower. Today was a record-breaking day, and I was exhausted. Thankfully, I have a big comfy bed to crash in. Take a look at my most impressive day yet, here.
